Derek began his career in real estate folding fliers and passing out marketing materials for a real estate company while still in grade school. He became a licensed real estate agent at the age of 22 and a licensed real estate broker at the age of 24. Within 5 years of transitioning to full time he was selling over 100 homes per year. Throughout his career Derek has represented banks, hedge funds, and national homebuilders with their real estate needs. He has spoken nationally on the business of real estate, lectured at 23 Keller Williams Market Centers, and continues to provide insight on the state of the real estate market to various news organizations such as the Los Angeles Times. In 2017 Derek Joined Keller Williams Realty International and established Movement Real Estate. His real estate team spans 8 locations throughout Southern California and has been ranked by Real Trends and America’s Best as one of the top real estate teams in the country. In 2020 he established a private equity vehicle, Movement Investments, which invests in residential property. He also founded Movement Management which invests in real estate brokerages, escrow, and mortgage businesses alike. During his 30 year career he has completed over 4,000 real estate transactions totaling over 1.5 billion in sales. Derek graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a BA in Business Administration with an emphasis on Finance in 1992.
